hey guys...
i just got a pair of tow mirrors for my 99 250 sd. i took the mirrors off and the wires are different colors. the dealer told me that i couldnt buy the connectors seperate from the mirrors. could some one please help me to match up the proper colors. the truck has black, red, blue and the new mirrors have purple and 2 other colors. please let me know and help would be great...thanks....
If you have 4 wires total on both the truck and the mirror, then use a volt and ohm meter to determine which 2 wires make up a pair. there should be two little motors that control the up/down and the right/left. each pair controls one axis, and the direction is controlled by polarity.
shorty, this from the 02 schematics with power mirrors
I have Red wire,Dark blue, Yellow.for the driver side
Violet, Dark Green and yellow for passenger.
Black is ground and the yellows are tied together
What are the exact colors you have on the new mirrors?
What crash was sayings is you need to determine which wires are hot when you move the mirror direction button.you can do it 12v test lamp.place the ground for the test lamp on the black ground wire in you old connector and move the the selector button to the mirror you want to move and probe the connector till the light lights up.
If someone here has a schematic for a 99 it would help! then just plug an play

thanks for the reply...i didnt open both boxes of the mirrors...i thought i got out the drivers side and the colors were purple yellow and green, but maybe i just open the passenger side by mistake. the new mirrors have a round plug on them...the tech at the place i bought them from said they are specifically for my truck. but people on here are saying i need a square plug. thats why i was going to splice them in. where can i find the plug to plug the mirrors in. is it behind the door panel, or else where...thanks alot...
If I remeber you don't need to remove the door panel. But must pop out the switch panel.remove the black cover over the mirror bolts.then pop the sw panel out.
So your truck had power mirrors just not trailer tow power mirrors correct!
The plug should be in there. Its been awhile since I look at this! going from memory.
