I just got my first automobile!! A 1983 Mercury Grand Marquis with only 40000 miles. I bought it for $1000, well, I only paid 500, my parents met me half way.
Well, my dad drives it home and finds he likes it, alot. So, he decides I'm going to be "stuck" with his 1997 Ford F150 (with 168000 miles).
On to my question, the first thing I want to fix on the truck is the automatic transmission's gear selector. When the truck is in Park the indicator says its in Reverse, in Nuetral, Drive and so on, how do I fix this? It does not really affect the operation, but it bothers the heck out of me.
I had this happen on my 95 F150 and a friend just went up under the dash and tightened the retaining bolt and it was fixed. So it is easy to fix. Maybe someone smarter will come by with more details.
