Power door lock issues
1988 XLT. Power window work fine. Driver's door lock works, including locking/unlocking rear hatch. My problem is with the pasenger door.
The door itself usually opens only from the inside latch. The power lock button works if I press "lock" in that it locks the other two doors, but has no effect on the passenger's door, but doesn't do anything if I press unlock. I can't unlock the door with the key or the little **** that sticks up either.
So I removed the door panel and started taking things off and I'm struggling prying the actuator itself down and out, and disconnecting the leads to test to see if the actuator is getting power from the switch. I can't see any release tab on the connector. Any dismantling tips?
As always thanks for you excellent guidance.
Heres how the unlock circuit works. From the drivers switch to unlock relay is on pink/light green & theres a wire spliced into this from the passenger switch.
With the drivers door switch at the unlock position check for voltage at the passenger lock motor on pink/orange. Then check again with the passenger door switch at the unlock position.
BTW, this is how my 87 is wired, guessing your is wired the same.
Have you got the wiring diagram for your 88?
