Can anyone provide OEM brake parts parts numbers for my 01 Super Crew 2WD?
I want the exact replacement rotors and pads, and I get conflicting info from 2 dealers here in Columbus Ohio.
I'm willing to spend the money, but is $165 a little high for 1 front rotor?
Is the rear different?
Are the pads different too, for the front and rear?
For those prices you may want to check out some aftermarket drilled and/or slotted rotors. You can probably pick them up for less. I just did a quick search and saw prices in the $125-$145 range for Power Stop.
I'll try the motorcraft site. I really liked the stock setup. They lasted 70,000 miles! Then I had rotors turned and some crappy ceramic pads put on and warped them in about 10,000 miles.
You won't be able to order from the Motorcraft website, but you can at least get the "exact" p/n's. Once you have the p/n's you can then order them through this website for the best pricehttp://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...?siteid=214126and as a second option through these guys: http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...?siteid=214113
I bought a "DPFE" through the first option for $49 ($56+ shipped) and the local dealer wanted $108.00 for the same part. Both of the these sites carry OEM parts (Motorcraft).
I also got 70k out of the first set up with the potential for 20-30k more- based on about of 30% left on the pads with 63K on them when I had new tires installed. However a high idle situation caused by a sticky IAC valve did them in. It took me about a month to recognize the problem and another month to get it into the shop.
I think the rotors on the newer trucks don't have a lot of extra material and won't stand up to turning when you have high miles. I did just a pad slap with the ceramic pads and the rotors warped in about 15k. I believe the ceramic pads were stock on my truck-which is why I had them replaced with the ceramic.
My thoughts on the aftermarket parts are that even if you get 70k+ out of stock you'll still have to spring for new rotors and pads. So why not get something that should stop as well if not better, looks cool and potentialy costs less.
I now have 98k and will be replacing the brakes in a paycheck or two. I am not completely sold on the aftermarket ones because of how well the original set up worked and lasted but I will make the final determination once I have to give actual money to a shop.
As far as pricing I usually call three different dealerships when I've needed parts in the past and there's almost always a 10-20% difference in pricing. Usually it's not always the same shop that's cheapest either.
