Coil failure again???
Coil failure again???
I think my second coil has failed on my ’01 SC. The first at 34K miles I started to notice a hesitation at a steady 50MPH. I had it at the dealer just before the 36K miles and they didn’t find anything wrong, I thought maybe the transmission was slipping.
<o =""></o>Anyway at 40K the Check Engine light came on and I took it back to the dealer and they replace the #2 coil and plug $300 about half labor. The hesitation was gone.
<o =""></o>At 72K I started to notice the same, now at 75K the light is on again and it started to run ruff from idle through cruse speed, the first coil acted a little different.
<o =""></o>I am going to have AutoZone pull the codes and see if its another coil, if so is this a hard part to replace?
<o =""></o>Thanks,

Update, went to Autozone and the codes indicated a mis-fire in he #1 cyl, purchased a coil $47 and installed in about 5 minutes, problem solved could not have been easier being the #1 cyl.
Thanks for input.

The old one did appear to be on tight, it was the original one from day one. I did not try and swap the old back to see if the problem came back. Did they have issues with these coming loose? The hold down bolt was tight and in place.
Prior to pulling codes all I did was a visual looking for anything out of place.
Thanks
