I am having problems with the caliper pins coming out on my 1990 F-450 Super Duty. It happens on both the front and rear calipers. Any suggestion would be appreciated. Thanks
You may need to buy new pins. You can buy them at any parts store. The rubber inside is probably old and not holding them in. Or, you could possibly bend the ends out a bit so they don't slide out. Good luck!
I do use new pins and still have problems. I think I have bought 3 sets in th last year or so at approximately $20.00 an axle I have spent quite a bit on them. I do use the truck fairly hard but I take good care of it.I use this truck in my welding business and carry a heavy load on it all the time
I had a stuck pin in my brothers ranger, Wow what a B..... getting it out. After I got it out i reamed out the pin hole with a drill. Just make sure its the exact size as the hole.

I have a 89 F-450 and did the front brakes on it 8 months ago I was worried about those caliper slide pins they came out easy enough and went back in easy enough. You do need to use lots of brake lube on them so they slide properly your might be failing because they are not sliding properly.
Your spider on the axle might be worn out and the caliper is hammering like some one already meantioned take a screw driver and pry on the caliper while its still mounted. It should be fairly ridgidly mounted if its not its prolly time to head to the junk yard to find good used spiders.
I've never had a problem with Caliper pins not staying in, getting them loose when need be is another story.
If calipers have been changed out with rebuilt ones (or other replacements for that matter) it's possible the threaded portion is or has been wallowed/reemed out. Taped to wrong size is previous owner broke a pin off.
The replacement pins you're getting, are they from Ford, or some aftermarket off the wall imported brand?
Are you actually torquing these in to required specs?
