E40D Rebuild Problems
Here's the facts:
1990 F250 2wd 5.8L 85,000 miles
About 2 months/1,000 miles ago i took my truck in to get the trany rebuilt be casue it was starting to slip on occasion. trany place graciously accepted the challenge of rebuilding the tranny and had it back in about 2 weeks.
When I first got the tranny back it seemed like it wouldn't shift correctly between gears (shift too soon or too late). It also didn't like to move when I first started it up on cold mornings (below 32). To be more specific I would go out in the morning to start it up, truck would start right up, I'd put it into reverse, let the tranny "kick" to let me know it's in reverse and give her gas to back it out of the garage. The only problem was when I'd give it gas it wouldn't move. Heck, I'd have to really wind it up before it would even start rolling slowly backward (2500RPM).
Yersterday I was hauling some cabinets back from my in-laws, (very light load) and the truck started puking out tranny fluid all over the exhaust, I stopped and let it cool down and it was alright the rest of the way. The tranny still seems to shift alright(not slipping at least) but has me worried.
Any thoughts on what might be up?
Thanks,
Erk
P.S. I'll add that It does have an aftermarket tranny cooler
