bad speed sensors

I have a 1999 f-350 bought used a year and a half ago with the small gas engine, had 70,000 miles on it. The check engine light has come on and the speed sensor was detected bad 3 times and replaced in the last year! Is there a prob with this part or? Its an auto trans too...thanks Stuart

Hey, good to here from another Ga. resident. Anyway, did you notice any metal particles on the sensor when removed. You may need to drain and replace the rearend fluid. Any metal in the fluid may cause it to act up.

I agree. The fact that you had 3 goes bad means most likely something else is up..

Are you sure its the senser? If you have 4 wheel anti-lock brakes you could very well need a updated anti-lock brake module controler, Thats what fixed my '01 along with the speed control surge at 70mph
