heres what i have its a 460 .060 over, c8ve heads ported,kb138 pistons with 10.1 to 1 compression, straight up double roller timing chain. which intake would go best with this combo the edelbrock torker or performer im deciding between these 2 because i have them both thanks kevin
the performer rpm i think would be the better choice from the torqer.if i remember right they almost have the same specs but the torker power starts at a higher rpm than the performer rpm does but go to the same peak rpm.
I would go with the Performer. That's what I have on my 460 and it works pretty good. I've heard a lot of people say the torker isn't much better than stock.
With the combo you have in the 460, I would sell both of those intakes and buy a stealth made by Weiand cost $190 from Jegs. It's a dual plane good for idle to 6800 rpm. I have one and love it. -Ed
There was a site on the internet a while back that did a test of the various intakes. The Stealth was the best overall by far. Only a couple of intakes out torqued it, but those were way down on hp, and only one or two outpowered it, but they were way down on torque. It offers the best of both worlds, better than any other, including the Performer or Performer RPM.
Do you guys have the Stealth? How does it perform? Got any dyno numbers?
I have one of each, the stealth is on my 77 with Ford motorsport valve train and 200 horse nitrous system. The performer is on my mud truck with the performer package (cam, intake, lifters) both are .030 over. When I bought the performer package I was told it was just a bit more than stock but not enough to have to change valve springs. As bigsnag has said with the stealth you get the best of both worlds and in a 4X4 truck that is necessary. I do not have any dyno numbers, dyno time is very expensive, although I bet if you did some research on the web you could find some dyno numbers. I do know that I can tell a big difference between the two set ups in the seat of the pants feel (even with out the NOS). -Ed
I have the Stealth and can tell you it is a torque making beast. I spend a lot of time towing 17,000 pounds gvw. 2500 rpm is my cruise rpm. I feel like I have the perpetual tail wind as I have to let up on it constantly comparred to the stock set up. I also put in an edelbrock double roller straight up timing set and used a Holley 750 that is made for the Fords. It pulls from a dead idle to 5,500 hard. After that I think the carb and exhaust are holding me back.
Sell the Performers and get a real intake, the Stealth.
what size cam are you gonna run.the performer will make more torque below 3500 than the stealth .the stealth doesnt come alive till above 3500.i run a mildly built 429 with similar specs to yours and i run a performer with a 2" 4 hole spacer .this thing will easily spin to 6k.
I won't believe the Performer will make more torque than the Stealth at ANY RPM, unless someone shows me on a dyno. The claim that the Stealth doesn't come on until 3500 RPM's made me laugh out loud.
Now tell me which one is the better intake. That link is based off of actual dyno results from the exact same engine. The Stealth is the best all around intake made. Period.
