I'm trying to install an aftermarket tach on an '87 f250 gasoline engine. I've got a good ground and the hot wire hooked up, but I can't find the wire under the dash for the distributor. Does anyone know which wire it is? Do I have to go through the firewall and attach outside? If so, to which wire?

Maybe your tach is different then mine, but mine has four wires: 1 for ground of the tach, 1 to go to the pos. side of the coil, and two for backlighting (Hot and ground) This is an old tach so it could be very different then yours. Did this help at all?
