Econoline 150 Braking Question
The wife just took the '96 Econoline 150 into the dealer this morning after braking problem on the way to work. She states that when applying the brake pedal, she could feel a "slipping" and non gripping almost ran into somebody , pulled over then noticed a small fluid stain on the front driverside rim(small in one area)
She states that it would "slip" on the first engage of the brake pedal and then she would let up and depress again to get it to grip.
Dealership has run diags and states there is no problems noticed. It's her van and she's a pretty sharp cookie so I think she knows a problem with her vehicle when she feels it.
Just curious if anyone else had similar prob?

My '83 E-150 used to do the same thing. Every time I wanted to stop I had to tap the pedal once before I'd get any kind of pressure to the brakes. I've been monkeying with the brakes quite a bit on both the old '83 and my "new" '84, so I can't quite remember what fixed it. It seems like I just tossed in a new master cylinder, but it might have just needed bleeding. But if theres brake fluid on her rims (sure it's not dog pee?), something ain't right. I guess if a seal is leaking, air can be sucked back in the lines.
A while ago I got tired of the various problems I was having with the 84 and took the whole dang system apart, blew out the lines, put new rubber hoses in, new friction all around, replaced caliper seals, new rear cyls, and new master cyl. After about a week of cursing trying to get fluid back in the lines, I finally got it right and the brakes work perfectly now. Now I just need to get the engine running!

Hope this helps, good luck
