strange clicking

Hello everyone, I am getting a strange clicking sound sometimes when I start my 99 ford ranger. It has the 3.0 flexfuel engine with a manual trans - all stock under the hood with about 99k miles, and runs great. It's a rapid clicky kind of sound. I have read alittle about fuel regulators making a noise at start-up, but it seems like a different kind of click. Mine is almost like an accessory: alternator or maybe ac compressor clutch. Anyone have similar sound or any ideas?
Thanks in advance for your help,
Chris

I just changed the oil last week. I am running 10w30. The oil pressure always stays at the exact middle range on the guage, and fluctuates very little when I give it gas. The only time I ever see the oil light is right after I have changed the oil at start up to fill the new filter, and it goes away with in about 2-3 seconds. Should i be running a heavier weight oil since I have the miles? The truck doesn't lose any oil between changes and doesn't smoke at all.

Did this start after the oil/filter change? The valve in the filter might be letting the oil drain out of it.
