Just wonderin where exactly the spindle bearing is, and how to check it to see if it needs replaced? Thanks!
spindle bearing = wheel bearings
remove hub and clean bearings, look for pits or hot spots, check bearing races for same, repack, replace seal and reinstall if it looks ok.

Boy, I saw this post and jumped all over it.
My LF bearing assembly on my '02 F350 went TU at 33,000 miles... it went to making a he** of a lot of noise after a recent road trip. I had engaged the 4x4 for a brief while on ice.
Just glad I was still under warranty.
I never submerge this thing (in sand or water, etc.) except that I live in Seattle (rain).
I wonder if anyone knows the life-expectancy on these?
It says to lubricate them in my '02 owners manual. I took my truck in to do that, and the SM told me they are sealed units now, with the anti-lock sensor incorporated in. Nothing to do but replace them if they go bad according to him.
