pitman arm source?

it's been a long time ago { my 64 imp ss in the early 80's } but i was warned against chroming parts on the suspension because ,if i remember it right , of hydrogen embrittlement ? did it anyway no probs . i was told it weakens the parts and they would break easily especially cast parts . bee n as the dead put it a long strange trip since then so i may not be remembering it right . as far as welding we'd do it all the time on pitman arms and all sorts of other suspension parts on the dirt cars and never had any issues . and i'd say those parts lived in an extreme world .

We always seem to talk about a Pitman Arm "we made" failing. Look at the link below even the ones made by reputable company's can fail.
