and i LOVE the way it turned out! Only took me 30 mins on one side, and 20 mins on the other once i knew what i was doing. Total including finding the right tools etc etc was just under an hour and 1/2.If anyone is looking for an opinion, i would say this style leveling kit is the easiest! (i think its from EZLift) Oh, i would also recommend a friend being there, extra muscle is helpful.
Ive been following this forum for about a year now, and i DO have to say, I LOVE my truck, and the only thing ive experienced was the "jolting" on acceleration, i think it comes and goes though. Anyhow, have 30K miles on it, and it still feels like it did when i drove it off the lot. Hope many of you feel the same about yours. ROCK ON F.T.E.!!!!!
Sharp looking truck. How many inches did the EZlift ultimately give you? I'm real close to taking bids on my upcoming lift.
I also installed the EZLift spacers -- they give a 2" lift. I'll glad I went with these -- I think the 2.5" kit would have been too high on SWMBO's '05 SCrew 4x4.
i just put the 2.5" kit in my fx4 scab last friday night, took about 35-40 minutes with help from my buddy, had no trouble at all, looks great and rides great, and no you do not need a spring compressor, just some metric sockets and wrenchs and an air gun, jack and stands....
noticed u said somethin about fx4 rims, U might check with your dealer I know the that I bought my truck from had a couple of sets for sale with new tires on them for like 600
I just purchased a kit online that simply acts as a spacer above the strut, thus no strut disassembly is required. Was the kit you installed this type or another?

CUISINART: Yeah, there are a few different kits out there, but basically what you purchased. My kit was the "precession c.n.c. machined from 6061-T6 aircraft quality aluminum" kit. .......
Blazin - I'm trying to understand this and could use some help....when you install a "leveling" kit - it is just to bring the front level with the rear height - or does the kit come with rear spacers as well (thicker leaf spring blocks??).
Would you share where you purchased this - post a link or phone number to where I can purchase the kit....I can't seem to find anything but the 3" or 6" lift kits anywhere on the web.
I'm very handy and am plannning on installing myself - is this something I can do with tools, floor jack and jack stands? Both front and rear?
Also, I've seen the "AutoSprings" mentioned....and can't find them anywhere either - are they a spacer like you installed or something different?
Hey hotlap the leveling kit that he used simply raises the front end up to match the rear ride height one other solution is to use lowering shackles that lower the rear end to match the front really just depends on what you like
Hi HotLap. I,ve got some pictures in my gallery under "Wifes truck" with a list of tools needed for the install. I also posted directions a month ago on How to do it yourself. It's not too bad of a job.
Did any of you have to get an alignment after you installed the kit? Just trying to get all my bases covered here...
Definitely -- toe is altered due to the lower A-arm now standing a bit farther down, and you can't 'eye-ball it" back into spec -- you really need an alignment machine to get it back into the fractions-of-a-degree-wide spec. My tech also checked, and I believe, slightly tweaked, caster/camber.
