I'm thinking of changing my 300 fuel injected to carb is there any that you'd recommend. I was wondering if any one knows if it would be the best way to go or if I should stick with the Fuel Injected.
What are your driving expectations? If you just wanted to stick with a stock, reliable setup you could just get a stock intake with a pre-emissions Carter YF. A popular upgrade is a Holley 2bbl. and an Offenhouser or Clifford intake. A lot depends on how much you can spend. I would say the upgrade would be at least $300 where as I recently purchased a rebuilt 68 vintage Carter YF with a warranty for $80. I already had the stock intake. Had to rid myself of a testy gas drinking Autolite carb. Much better. Just a few ideas for you.
Leave it FI..... you have a good thing in your FI set up. open your exhaust & open your intake, you should see a power & MPG improvement. then a CAM would be your best gain. you will not have to change any fuel settings thats the best thing about your FI setup. go to fordsix web site & search there for exact mods they do to trucks just like yours. I just got my 84 upgraded to a offy C & a 4BBL carb & I love it. lots of work & tuning you will have to do if you want a carb. set up. lots of time & $$$ I would love to have your set up.
Not realy it just depends on the time/money you have to spend on the efi to make it work correctly. If i were you i'd find out exactly what i want to start with. If you want a 300hp motor then carb is probably best bet but, you can do the same thing with some dyno time and a chip or reflashing of your cpu for an efi and have better gas milage/longevity/durability.
