Moved to proper forum.

Make them out of mild steel and have them ceramic coated. Stainless would be great also.

Get them coated. It will cost about as much as a set of headers, but they should last forever.

Whats the difference between chrome and ceramic besides ceramic last longer? Is it worth the big price difference?

If they're new and raw not chromed get them ceramic coat inside and out. Extra protection for the header as well heat retention to keep the gas velocity high and under hood temps lower. Chrome will go away and become rusty in a short while. Companies like HPC will have lifetime for their products from rust out. Ceramic in chrome finish will look new years later.

thats not been my experience- the coating has faded off almost instantly - and they have ended up a dull silver finish

bootie, go to the Exhaust Systems, thread under headers or exhaust. I posted a few links of ceramic silver coated exhaust that has 19,000 miles on it, still looks like new over a year later. The stainless clamps are brown / purple from heat without any HPC ceramic shine loss.
