I had the pan off my E4OD ('93 F150 300I6) to change the fluid and noticed that:
1.) The pan is a casting
2.) It's very lightweight
3.) It's strongly attracted to the donut-shaped magnet found on its inner surface.
What the heck material is the pan made from?
All the timing chain covers I've seen have been aluminum. Don't know about the E4OD pan. Mabey cast aluminum, with a piece of steel cast in for the magnent?
