okay I am a believer in someone getting compinsation for something but. There are lawyers out there hounding these victims of the hijacking saying they will go after the airlines for the loss of their loved ones. Now I believe these people are intitled to something but not millions of $$$$$$. i think the government better step in on these lawyers and stick up for the insurance companies and put a settlement cap on this. i don't think the airlines are at fault on this. it was something that happened beyond their control and was not an airplane failure or negligence on behalf of the airlines. It was an act of terrorism and war the lawyers need to go after the terrorist group who masterminded this not the airline. This is just my belief and I am wondering what everyone else thinks.
It's a pretty bad sign when we live in a society where money is more important than a human life. I believe that some compensation is probably due to the families of the people lost on the flights, but no matter how much money the families get from the airline, they still have a family member that will no longer be with them.
These lawyers will probably cause airline ticket prices to go up, make the airlines even more paranoid every time someone steps on board of one of their planes, and make greedy people more and more willing to sue over stupid things if they get their way.
I would rather see the money spent on additional security measures that will make all those people who fly on a regular basis feel more comfortable about stepping aboard an airplane.
Although it could never begin to cover our losses, human or otherwise, we should seize all assets of terrorist governments to be used for compensation.
I think the money is meant to get the families, especially their kids, through tough times to ease the transition from a good life to a life without Daddy or Mommy. College money, etc. I'm for it because it's a slap in Bib Laden's puss and a symbol of what Americe does best, which is Overkill. Harleys and fins on Cadillacs aren't necessary either, but they do make a statement that we do things up right. We want Bin Laden to receive the best, too. Cruise missiles, smart bombs, only the newest bombs, etc.
Last I heard, the lawyers were not doing that for fear of being labled unAmerica.
If however they are slime and doing this, then they may in fact receive some backlash for the public.
The airlines are going bankrupt and lawyers only attack when they can smell money.
Imagine being a lawyer and on your list of achievments you have "Sued airline after world trade center incident and won."
If they plan on doing that they might as well sue Boeing for not making the cockpits terrorist proof. The airlines for not training the stewardess to be combat ready. And the FAA for not controlling aircraft in US airspace. Maybe even the designers of the Twin Towers. They should've designed them so that a plane could safely fly threw them and everyone be ok.
If the lawyers do sue. They should be watched because they have no soul or principles.
