transmission died
well i was flyin down the highyway today probably alot faster than i should be but anywayws i look back and all i could see was smoke so i pulled of the highway and it pissed out alll its tranny fluid
so know i have to get a new tranny it is a 93 f150 5.0l what is the best trann i can get also what is a good price and is it alot of work to put in a 4x4 standard considering i have a 2x4 auto?

In 93, if your truck came with O/D it is a E40D. They cost a pretty penny to get rebuilt. Although, they can be strong if built up right. If you do have a E40D then your computer runs it. If you were to swap to a manual tranny you would also need to find a computer that came from a manual truck. If not, the check engine light will go on and cause many other things to go haywire. It would be quite costly to convert to 4x4 but it is possible. The whole TTB up front would need to be swaped and you would need to get a tranfer case. Also, you would have to find another tailshaft for your tranny that is meant for 4x4 because the transfer case needs to hook up to the back. You would need a front drive shaft and the rear would have to be shortened. Your best bet would be to find a donor truck so you have all of the parts you need up front.
