replacing transmission
replacing c-6 transmission in my 77 f150 4x4. already have the transfer case off. Engine is out, as I am overhauling.
My question: Does the bottom bracket below the tranny need to be removed, or can the new tranny slide in from the front? Any tips for making this job a bit easier?

if you mean the cross-member, i would take it out. when you reinstall everything, the easiest way is to bolt everything back up to the engine and angle it in from the front. removing the front clip isn't a bad idea either. you can reinstall the cross-member later. it's not too hard to do.
