Strait pipes mean no muffler, so in most intances it is not legal but many times not enforced.
H and X pipes are good ideas for true duel exhaust set-ups, however mine is not true dual exhaust but looks like it and sounds like it.

I like what Octane said, I went with the flowmaster 50 series also and finished it with a 4' flowmster stainless tip, nice deep sound at idle and crisp on excelleration. The only differance I did was stuck with a signal instead of dual exhaust, I was told that duals will kill some of your torque, and for me I perfer that to horsepower. To each there own I guess.
