auto down shifting

When my auto tranny down shifts to 2nd from 3rd. It feels like a standrad tranny down shifting for a few seconds. Is this normal or should I get it looked at.

actually, you are upshifting from 2nd to 3rd.. what i have noticed on my tranny is that it shifts a little different depending on where the accellerator is... if i'm driving easy... with my foot barely in the pedal.. she shifts real soft... with a bit of a "pause" as she goes to the next gear... if i'm towing, and i'm more into the throttle, say going up a slight hill from a stop... she shifts a good deal firmer.. not a firm as i would like, but she does "know" the difference... that's ok though, cause i'm getting a predator, and that tuner let you adjust shift points and firmness so you can customize the tranny along with whichever custom tune you are running...!

Is it downshifting from 3rd to 2nd or upshifting from 2nd to 3rd you are questioning??

Anyway, they sometimes shift hard in both directions depending on tuners, chips, and loads.

Sorry, can't read I guess. Anyway, sometimes like johnny said, it is firm and other times soft. I have noticed mine pretty firm coming to a stop sign sometimes. I believe it to be normal.

as for slowing down... my 02 just idles lower and lower... until i get to 35mph or so then i hear and feel my tranny dissengage and she "freewheels" to a stop idling the whole time... i don't know if this is "normal"... but it has always done this and my mule runs and tows real well...

When did you notice this problem? Is this a sudden change in the way your truck shifts? How long have you had this truck?
