I install mobility products in vehicles for a living, and have a problem with a 2005 Freestar that I am hoping one of you Ford mechanics can maybe help me with. I installed a Turney seat in the front passanger area, which means I had to remove the OEM seat and install the aftermarket seat. Now for the problem, the manufacture sends a resister kit to put in place of the airbag switch and the weight sensor in the seat. I now have the airbag icon flashing first 9 times followed with 10 flashes. This continues to alternate between 9 and 10 flashes. The local Ford garage won't help me out with the code unless I bring it in. Anyone know what these flash codes mean?? I feel that the resisters are the wrong value, but the manufacturer says they are correct. I just thought I might try here before I pay the Ford garage to tell me. Thanks in advance for any help.
You need to find a way to reinstall the sensor on the new seat. It's looking for a range of voltage not just a fixed signal. The way the system works it tells the airbag when and how to deploy. It's in a non-functional mode right now because it can't tell how much weight is in the seat.
I was told by Bruno (the manufacurer of the seat) that one of the the resistors I put in line was to fake the seat into thinking someone was there, they probably don't know what they are talking about. I've had problems with them before, but it takes a lot of time and of course my customers NEED their vehicles as most are not able to drive just any vehicle. Thanks to both of you for the responce. This site is great.
