I have a 2002 Explorer XLT with approximately 49k miles. On two seperate occasions the vehicle has cut off. First time (about 2-3 months ago), my wife was backing out of the driveway and once out, the vehicle cut off. She put it in park and it started back up and took off. I took it into the Ford Dealer who could find no codes or problems. This last time on Sunday my wife was driving through the neighborhood. Coming to a stop it cut off. She started back up, turned it around and upon acceleration to take off it cut off. She started back up and came to the next stop and it cut off. After that it ran fine. It has been "slipping" or "feeling like it wants to cut off" on her several times at speeds between 45-50. I took it in today and again no codes or cannot duplicate. Any one else with a similar problem and/or fix??
I have experienced the exact same problem with my 02. So far I have only had it cut off once when coming to a stop. However I have had it seem to hesitate or almost cut off on many occasions.. At first I thought it was my imagination.. I have yet to bring it in to a dealer for it.. First I am trying to solve my paint peeling problem. Personally I can't wait to sell this thing.. I can't believe I bought it and I will tell my wife to kick me hard if I ever think of buying Ford again.. Just one huge dissapointment from this truck.. I was thinking of getting an 07 Expedition when they get the face lift, but I have cancelled those plans.. I drive 40k kms a year and I don't have time to go to the dealer once a month for repairs.. Nor can I suffer the huge loss I would take on it financially.
