Checked the fuel pressure today, and when it first primed it was at 50psi and when it's running it bounced between 50-52 psi. Is this high? I read in former posts that the 4.9 should be in that range. It just doesn't sound right to me.
The truck is not running right, it has a rolling idle, and exhaust smells rich and the all the spark plugs are chared black. So, this made me test the fuel pressure. I have replaced the FPR (fuel pressure regulator) about a month ago. But it hasn't run right sense. Faulty FPR? Is there any other way to test the FPR maybe a hand vaccum pump? I don't really feel like taking it off unless I have too. Thanks Ford for the great design....lol Anyway, I just want my truck back. So, any help will be appreciated. --Thanks
Check the Fuel pressure regulator. Not sure if 52 is high or not. To check it, take the vaccuum like off of the regulator and see if theres any gas in it. Also do u have a check engine light? Could also be the O2 sensor takin a crap on ya.

well, I took the vaccum line off of the FPR and there was no gas in it. The engine light only comes on a for a little while when I first start it and turns off as soon as it's started. I'll try to check the O2 sensor and replace the spark plugs tomorrow. The pressure while running/idling was between 50-52. Thanks to all who responded and keep the suggestions coming.
I'm not sure what I was thinking when I said 52 was high. Just got eye surgery before I posted that and I was prolly still a little drugged up lol. Sorry about that. Your check engine light is supposed to kick on with the key on engine off. Then once it starts, the light should go off and stay off. If it stays off then the computer doesnt sense a problem at all.
Tried to work on her today, but the stupid rain is keeping me from her...I did manage to look at the O2 sensor before the rain came. It looked fine, none of the slots were plugged. If there is a problem with it, it should spit up a code right? I'm waiting on getting my code tester back. (let the neighbor borrow it...) So, I will post the codes if and when I find them. Please keep the suggestions coming. Thanks for your help so far.
