63 shorty uni, repl front end with fatman ifs,223 and 3 spd out, replacing with 408 stroker and comp c-4, 6cyl was offset to pass side, flr hump is offset need to repl rusted,is there a flr pan with hump in center? We are using original 9" rear, project is for my 15 yr old son,any advice on entire truck very much welcomed, this is a frame off retro. thanks frm Colorado
I believe that if you look all engines are offset to the right to match the rearend. My 352 is offset to the right also. I'm sure someone else will jump in here when I say I believe that it was done to distribute the torque evenly to the rearend. I always thought it was done for driver comfort but was corrected by a Ford mechanic.
I'm not sure but I think it's due to the ring and pinion type gear configuration.
By the way, I have a 6 cyl. Uni and an 8 cyl. Uni and they're both offset floor humps.
Mine was rusted, so I cut out the rusted steel, treated it with pool acid to stop the rust process, sealed the metal and riveted hardened stainless steel into the cut out sections, then gave the underneath a nice undercoating.
