As far as I can tell - no one makes them for the 73-79's. I have been measuring the nerf bars on various trucks, and trying to get some measurements that "gel" with my 78' Super cab. Once I find a close match, I think I'll just order a set for that particular vehicle and plan to modify/make my own installation brackets. I think that is our only option. I haven't been able to find grill guards for the 73-79's for quite some time either. I finally found an original factory grill guard still attached to a 78' Bronco, and am giong with it. These truck's are still quite plentiful and popular, don't really understand why the aftermarket has left them behind.....................
Probably because very few people are willing to put any money into them.
I had the same problem, drove all over town to find at least a step to help my GF and other passengers get into my truck with no luck at all. Found a guy willing to fab me a set, but I'm not about to spend that much money on something so trivial.
Honestly, I'm really surprised that no one makes a "universal" set that could be bolted on with a little drilling on the frame rails.
get a good exhaust shop to make you a set out of stainless pipe. I had a set of nerf bars on my truck made out of exhaust pipe, they worked very good, and you can make them to any size.
I've only seen a handful of Nerf bars on 73-79' Trucks and the 78-79' Broncos - none local, all online. Everyone either bought the vehicle that way (so they don't know how the P.O. installed them), or they fabbed the brackets for a set themselves - from a newer vehicle. I still see quite alot of these trucks on the road, and alot of them in very good shape. Just seems odd to me that the aftermarket is dropping so many neat items all the time, or not picking up new ones..........
I have been looking at fabing up some brackets so I can use the bars from an 80-96 Bronco for my 78 ex-cab. I think they should be about the right length and the brackets should not be that hard to fab up.
I bought a set of nerf bars for my fathers 1977 F-150 from MAPP about 3 years ago, although they discontinued production of them. They said unless they can sell millions of the part they don't want to produce it. I think Im just going to fab a set.
