ok, finally got a day off to try and get my gauges working, been trying to work on them for a week but between rain and the air force thinking i need to work 14 hrs a day hasnt been much time. tranny and pyro wont work at all, actually the first time i took it out the pyro jumped to 3 and went back to zero, thats the only time its moved. the lights work on all the gauges, and everything is grounded to the same place so im thinking its not the ground. im not a pro but im thinking its the power wire now. just need to know how to check the wires for power, im pretty proud of myself for getting this far, not sure how to check wires with a voltmeter. help me out guys, i know ya'll can help me out, thanks.
well, assuming you have toe gauges powered with a wire that is hot with the ignition on, turnthe key, and then with the voltmeter set to 12 volts or thereabouts, find your ground, and then with the hot lead, just touch the connection of the suppsed "hot wire" on the back of your gauge. if you have power, you'll get a reading on the meter. what wire did you hook into for your power? let me know how its going, my gauge install was hit or miss, but i got it figured out.
well i went and double checked everything. found out i was dumb and spliced into the wrong wire. found the right one and waaalaaa pyro worked, imagine that ya get the right wire and it works hahah. anyway pyro and boost work just fine. tranny gauge still doesnt move. drove for about 15-20 mins with ambient temp of about 55. correct me if im wrong but i heard something about the ambient temp having something to do with the tranny temp. help me out with my last problem pleeeeease.
You'll have to drive it longer than that to get a reading. My stock gauge will be up to half way and the new gauge will only be starting to move. It really doesn't heat up as quick as the stock gauge indicates.
