I have a '96 CC and am looking into doing an open dual side oiler exhaust. The passenger side should be no problem, but where can I safely get the driver's side pipe past the frame rail. I don't really want to have it too vulnerable to getting hit. Any ideas/photos?
Thanks
That's right. The front tank is inside the frame rail on the drivers side oposite the exhaust on the passengers side. If I can't find a reasonably easy way to do it, I may just go for an open single exhaust.
This is where mine comes out. 4" turns out right in front of the spring hanger but it's just a single. How do you have a driver's side pipe anyway? The turbo only exits to the passenger's side.
i did the same as max but i did leave a muffler and then used a 45 degree bend instead of the 90 he used then expanded out to 5" with a piece of 5" chrome i had laying around and slash cut the end. it sounds awesome and look sweet too. just go with single exhaust. it will never be true duals so why all the trouble. you will not regret going with the side exit single. though your wheel will get dirtier fast with the exhaust here be it is well worth it.
I got a set of duals at napa, the left pipe crosses over the rear diff and they both exit out the back....( this was for an 89 half ton gasser, but i believe there were other models available)
tell ya what, scope out this link: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...ghlight=stacks and in it 444dieselrod changed over to stacks from his dual side-pipes. personally, i'm a stacks fan myself, but if i couldn't have done them to my truck, his style side-pipes would have been my next choice. if you scope out his webshots, theres some pics of his side's.
I would do stacks too, but not right now. I even priced out some 5 inch stacks at a local tractor wrecker. I hadn't thought of just splitting the tailpipe. I realize that it will never be a true dual, but hey I've got more engine than most guys with dual exhaust so I think I'll make due. I had a look at Dieselrods webshots and they're pretty good. Way too many ideas now, but his dual sideoiler setup will probably work for me. I should be able to fab-up something like that. I'll let you know how it works out.
