I`m going to look at a 1985 Bronco 2 Dr 4WD and was wonder what I should look for. For problems that are known to be there on these or the pros and cons. And also it has a V6 with a 2V on it what size enigine might this be?Thanks for th help -Richard
More than likely that is a 2.8L and I think (but don't quote me) that it is probably normally aspirated (uses a carb).
The Bronco II is a very nimble vehicle and a blast to drive, because of thier small size and short wheelbase they make great 4 wheel drive machines. This short wheelbase can also bite the unsusoecting driver because it is so short coupled.
They have been labled as a roll over hazard but I think most on this site will agree that if they are driven by informed people they present no more of hazard than the soccer van your wife drives.
As with any older vehicle rust plays a major roll in destroying the Bronco and it was built before Ford had the cold galvanizing down to a science.
As for any specific questions you may have, the people on this site can offer a wealth of information about the trucks we love.
I bought it! Its in great shape very little rust.I need to know were the safety switch is on the trany, because I have to play with the shifter to get it to start or put it in nutural.I`m sure there will be more questions to follow thankyou so far - Richard
Assuming it is the 2.8 what kind of MPG do they get?

The Neutral switch is on the drivers side near the shift linkage. According to the ford book this switch requires a special wrench because is is supposed to be made of thin wall metal. Use caution, and have fun.
My son has a 2.9 and so far he hasn't checked gas milage, but with the 33X12.50 tires I doubt he is getting good milage.
