I am having problems with the inside temp of my 1999 F-150 truck. The problem is the thermostat that you use to dial in whether you want it hot or cold air blowing seems to be stuck on cold right now. When I turn the dial it does not feel like it is grabing anything to actually turn the dial on the inside. My question is, has anyone had this type of problem and is it something that I would be able to fix or would it be better to take it to a dealer and have them fix it? Also would it be expensive at all. My guess would be it should not be too much but hey what do I know.
Vandiyan,
Been there, done that. The most likely (and easiest) problem is that the **** has cracked. Pull of the kknob (carefully) and look at the back. There is a slotted key that goes on the end of the shaft. On mine, the keyway had cracked, so that the **** just spun on the shaft without turning it.
Some people replace the ****, others use Crazy Glue, I replaced the ****. I don't remember the price off hand, but it was pretty cheap. The crack was so bad in mine, I didn't think a glue job would hold up.
Thank you very much for the advice. I was hoping and thinking that it probably was something pretty easy. What a relief to know that it actually was for a change.
