1976 interior options
A friend of mine has a '76 regular cab F-250 and he was wondering about a particular interior option that his truck has. His truck has a package(I think) that I have not seen before. There are several items that are color-keyed,for example, the steering column is not black,but light tan color. The windshield and rear window gaskets are that same color as well as the rubber strip inside the large chrome molding that runs down the side of the truck. I think it also has the full dish wheelcovers,but the center section is a light tan color as opposed to the spun-aluminum finish. Has anyone else seen this? Anyone know what the option package is called? He'd like to restore this truck,but cant find replacements for any of the tan-colored components.

Dennis...No,its not a Lariat...its an XLT,though.I have just never seen this color arrangement before and my friend was curious about it,too. Does anyone have a '76 brochure that shows this as an option?

It sounds like this truck has the XLT Luxury Group package. The XLT Luxury Group package was a special package that they offered on XLT models in 76, and it featured alot of the options that you mentioned. These trucks were known as "Texas Rangers" in Texas. They didn't make very many of them, and they are very rare to find today. They were the "top of the line" trucks for 76, similar to the Lariat model, which was introduced in 78. As far as replacements for the tan-colored components, I don't know where you'd find them. This would definetly be a good truck to restore, though.
