Gage Painting
OK, I cleaned up the gages in both trucks. It looks like I could wax them and have a nice looking set of gages. Are there vinyl decals that will look better and not rust? Also what was the plate that goes behind the glass and in front of the gages painted with originally. I am thinking of stripping it and painting it white or a glow in the dark color. Maybe a black light to really make it stand out?

THey make a decal set for the 48-50 trucks. It has the speedo, and 4 guages. Last I knew it was $45.00 for it. Look in the repo catalogs if you have any. The original bezel is painted with a beige color. There is a pattern in the finish. I've yet to figure a way to duplicate it. I usually just strip off the surface and repaint them with duplicolor. It has a number of 8117 or 9356 on the can. I got it at Advance auto parts.

OK, thanks I looked in Sacremento Vintage and did not see a decal set. I will look for the Duplicolor it is a common paint here. Ever tried a glow in the dark paint? It would be neet to hide the Ford logo during the day and have it glow in the dark.
