im trying to figure out what all needs vacuum on my truck. i see several little places for them to connect to on the firewall but the only thing connected is the distributor. i bought it off a friend who didnt know what he was doing. he couldnt get it to pass emissions for a couple of years and i think i might of found the problem,he put a non emissions edelbrock on it and has it running rich. but my question is will not having anything other than the dist. hooked up effect the emissions? its non egr and and a non catalyst. any help would be greatly appreciated
I live in AZ and tryed to get my truck to pass. I wasnt close on the numbers part. But they told me i need to have a cat, egr, and the fuel fumes filter can. My truck is a 79 CC 4x4 with the 460. He told me to go to the DMV in the downtown area, this is there main center. He said there they could tell me more about what I need and dont need. I havent had a chance to get down there yet but in the next week or so. I will let you know what they say.
AZ is really bad for passing emissions, my 72 failed 4 times before I broke down and took it the dealer. Finally passed the 5th time. And this was with NEW dizzy, carb, plugs, wires and only 5K on a new motor!
The dealer had to set the timing to ZERO and it passed OK then. I promptly reset it back to +12 once the ordeal was done with.
