Wierd tranny shifting
I have a 2001 F350 PSD with the automatic. I recently had the transmission fluid changed and power flushed at Aamco. Before the change, the torque converter would lock up almost immediately after shifting into 3rd gear, no matter if warm or cold. Now, it won't lock the converter until fully warmed up and driven about 3 miles. Aamco says they didn't mess with any sensors, cables, or re-flashing and have no idea why the shifting changed.
Has anyone else seen this sort of problem? I bought the truck with 44,000 miles, so I don't know which way it shifted when new. How do other people's 2001's do the lockup--cold or warmed up?
Thanks!!!
problems can arise due to seal damage,o-ring damage and dirt particles being dislodged and traveling to small passages that cause pressure changes within the tranny causing what you have.
I highly recommend that people don't power flush tranny's
Have you disconnected the battery for 5 mins and then reconnecting ?
This will put the pcm back to factory settings and actually let the truck relearn how to shift the trans. It may take a few drive cycles to do this .but it might be worth it.
Because your looking at a possible rebuild or tear down.
Becareful of tranny shops.they can bite you, because the normal person doesn't know !
the internal workings of a tranny.
It could also be a simple sensor or sw.

Greenego and Tony, that's good to know that others shift my "new" way. Thanks!
Any diesel owners comment how theirs lock up the converter when cold?
