1978, 79 400's......

What wre the stock horsey and torquey ratings? I saw a bronco with one for sale....

so It's like a straight 6 six with 40-50 extra lbs of tourqe....

is it any quicker..even slightly than the straight 6? what kinda gas mileage is average for this motor...

thanks a bunches yalls!

Thank goodness for the toys!! Rebuilt mine, runs some strong now!!!! Gas mileage is still crappy though. I get about 200 kms one a tank, tank costs about $45-$50 Cdn.

They are very easy to mod to get good power out of, but you get around 10 mpg. I got 12 when I bought mine in Texas and drove it back to Louisiana, taking it very easy and going no faster than 55 mph.

I've seen 300-400 hp come out of these things with an new intake, 4v carb, cam, headers and exhaust.
