The idle speed adjustment screw is on drivers side of carb just aft of the throttle linkagebetween the primary and secondary throttle shafts. You need to get the initial timing set and then get idle speed down as low as posible (600 to 700 RPMs) then recheck the initial timing again. Then adjust idle speed a second time if necessary.
I did all of this and now it will bog a little at low rpms. If I put my foot in it it runs pretty well. I also played around with the distrubitor aka scott the mad porter and my timing is different. What I mean is now 10 deg is more retarded than it was before. Is this possible or did my harmonic balancer possibly slip?

You need to check the accelerator pump adjustment. Adjustthe screw and nut thru the spring until the arm just touchs the cam. You should get fuel spuirting out the accel nozzles as soon as you move the throttle.
The damper can slip, but it is usually in aolder motors or in engines the froze up while running at big RPMs. You can check by pullin' #1 plug (best if you pull all of them). Bump crank engine with your finger over #1 plug hole until you have pressure. Then use a dowel and turn the roll the motor over until you reach TDC. Damper should be at or very close to 0 degrees.
