Oil Filters

I like the Pure One from Purolator, but it is hard to beat the Motorcraft filter also. I've never heard of "Group 7" before.

I am wondering if Group 7 is possibly the same as say a Fram or some name brand filter. Sometimes it is done that way. On the other hand, it could be worthless.

According to Salem Boys Auto in Arizona, Purolator makes Group 7. See their article at:

Oil Filters

I have always used a FRAM filter, and Pennzoil, for my 300, and the used oil, has always come out nice and clean. I've put the truck through it's paces too, trying to round up horses on the ranch. Then ofcourse, my parents use it for the normal stop and go driving. (they can't keep there hands off my 300, even though they have brand new cars) hehehe

Just my simple minded opinion,

Oil Filters

Isn't a Group 7 oil-filter a roll of toilet-paper in a can?

Just kidding.

I use Motorcraft. Can get at Walmart cheap.

There once actually was a device sold that allowed you to stuff a roll of toilet paper in a can and bolt it onto your car for an oil filter.

Oil Filters

That is the (not so) famous Frantz Oil Filter. I have one on my '70 Torino 429 SCJ.
It is a bypass setup, and I've never seen where it did any harm (or good, for that matter).
As far as "Who makes the best filter", well, that's whoever makes 'em cheap for those 3000 mile oil and filter changes. Quality of oil and frequency of change is what counts.

Oil Filters

My Local Ford dealer/mech recommends Motorcraft filter (buy at Walmart) and anything but Prestone brand anti-freeze for my 96 300/6.

Oil Filters

K&N makes oil filters as well as air filters, I guess they would be good if there anything like the air filters.

Oil Filters

If you want to check out a site that did a semi-scientific study of oil filters, then check out the following URL:
http://minimopar.simplenet.com/oilfilterstudy.html

You'll never buy a Fram again!!

Even though I've never had any problem with a FRAM oil filter, I'm going to definately change!!!
Why should I wait for the inevitable? I'm not going to argue with the scientific results!

Thank you very much, Van Man!

Sincerely,
Chris
