First run a jumper wire from the positive post of the battery to the + terminal on the coil (not the one the dist. is connected to) and see if you have spark. If yes, the ignition switch is bad or the resistor wire to the coil is bad. If no spark then either the wire to the dist is open or the points or condensor are bad. Ain't nothing else in the system. As to the rotor pointing wrong, easiest cure is to find TDC on #1 cylinder and rotate dist until rotor pointing at a terminal and make that your new #1 and do the rest of the plug wires in the firing order around the dist. I take it you do not want to pull the dist. again?
