Well To be Honest..when he told me I could have it ..Just to help them make sure they had the right parts and were putting them in the right places....I about fell out of my seat!!
And Kurt, This one will go in the 70 F250...after I do the axle flip..but before the interior is redone in tweed, But after the new paint and wheels...
I'am thinin with the cam thats in it..and a couple of my accessories, a port job....nothin to fancy (I'am not that good) I should get around 450hp with Iron Heads??
Any thoughts Guys??
And I am quite sure my CUZ...will get enough of my time getting parts for him to make up for any cash....
Well Kurt, we were hoping it was the Original motor..But not to be... If ya read my post on down..I put in there the guys build list..and thats all I know..
Other than I did the stroke test to it.. it is a 390..So no stroker there...
I ran it through Desktop Dyno real quick, and used flow numbers for C4 heads, I dont know if the C2's flow any different, but the C4's flow like crazy, so I dont think they could be too much better.
As is, with mufflers, it will make 394hp @ 5500rpm, and 404ft-lbs @ 4500rpm. The torque curve is kind of peaky, losing torque on the low end. You've *only* got 328ft-lbs @ 2000rpm.
Here are the numbers with ported C4 heads: 445hp @ 6000rpm, and 423ft-lbs @ 5000rpm. 323ft-lbs @ 2000rpm.
These were run with a guesstimated 10.23:1 compression, and stock 2.02/1.55 valve sizes.
Just for kicks, I ran it with the all-too-recommended Crane 343941 cam. Here's what I came up with:
Unported: 400hp @ 5500rpm, 436ft-lbs @ 4500rpm, 412ft-lbs @ 2000rpm
Ported (you're going to like this): 454hp @ 6000rpm, 462ft-lbs @ 4500rpm, 410ft-lbs @ 2000rpm.
Apparently these heads REALLY like a dual pattern cam, and I think you would too, in a truck for the extra low end torque. Not to mention more horsepower!
Ya Kurt I told ya so!! LOL... The C2SE-A's are I think 65 to 68cc chamber's..and I dont know if they have larger Valve's in them or not? I havent made it that far...lol...
But according to the guys build sheet..its got the Crane 344561 cam in it.. It does have one hell of a rumble when we fired it off today... The guy has the Idle set way to High...
And Kurt I didnt believe the #'s either when I ran it with just a pocket port job..
And Larry..straight across for the complete 64 Motor!! Bro your on...lol..Ya I'll put this FE in the Truck and Deliver it to ya !! On my way to Michigan!!
Thanks G.....I think a little port work to the C2SE-A's...an Intake change, carb,My dizzy, and my big tube header's , It'll add about 125hp more than the motor I have in the truck now...which is a mild build 30 over 390 with about 325hp or so...
We will find out? Now I have to buy another engine stand...always money!! LOL..
