I just did a cam swap on my 72 302 and put it back in my truck. It starts and runs great for about 30 seconds and then stalls out, I'm using a comp cams 268H camshaft and an edelbrock 600cfm carburetor, and I switched to an electric fuel pump. The engine sounds like you're trying to pull a trailer up a big hill and then just dies quick. I don't think it's flooding out because it doesn't shoot dark smoke out the exhaust, I think it could be starving out and wonder if the floats in my carburetor could be to blame, it stayed in a box for about a month, but I don't think that should matter that much. Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated because I am really looking forward to driving my truck.
is the electric fuel pump putting out to much fuel pressure, carbs dont like anything above 9 or so psi. i would check the fuel pump and install a pressure regulator if the electrick pump if rated for more than 9 psi
I just noticed that the alternator light is staying on when it's running would the alternator cause this problem? The fuel pump seems to be working alright and I think it's rated between 5 and 7 psi. I'll try messing the idle screws, and if that don't work I'll recheck all of my wires, then if that don't work i'll try a pressure regulator.
