V10KLZZ71S, That is excellent mileage for a V10, so that shows at 109000 miles she has little or no wear. Fantastic! What model and rear end ratio is your V10?
My 04 6.0 PSD got around 14 on a straight hiway run and my big V10 gets 12 so you have a good running motor. What type of oil are you using? Thanks Wrench.

That's good mileage. I just got my best average fuel mileage of 13.1 this past week and I just clicked over 57,000 on the odometer. I can't believe these engines get better with age. I just hope I can avoid the ever more popular plug blow-out.

I thought the blow-out problem didn't develop if you checked the plug torque maybe every 5 - 10K miles? Is there more to the problem than this?

Bones, I had a plug blow at 100k, not to long after dealer replaced the plugs(like a month after). Its gone almost another 100k with no problems. I tend to think if the truck is running well, dont mees with the plugs. But thats just my opinion...

The mileage you get higly depends upon the terrain. In PA I can get 13-14 on the highways. In MI I can get 15-16. You need to compare apples to apples and oranges to oranges. When the land is flat, you only need to overcome rolling friction and wind resistance. When in hilly areas, the engine needs to lift the vehicle up those hills. Lifting a 7000 lb van takes lots of fuel, doing it at 75 MPH takes even more.

When towing, in every truck I have ever owned, I find you get the worst mileage in the wind. Mountain driving with no wind, yes you burn a lot of fuel going up the hills but you also get the free ride down the other side so I never found much difference. When you are in real wind and your steering wheel is hard to one side just to keep going straight, man that's when you burn fuel. I try to get my driving done early in the day because most places, the wind seems to build later in the day, and when I retire and I have the time to sit around and let the wind calm down, that is what I'll do.I can suck back a couple wobbley-pops on a windy day instead of drive.
