Favorite accessory so far is the SCT Xcalibrator. Speed is my favorite add on Won me $100 in a Powerstroke Gamblers race last weekend at the 1/8 mile track lol. Ran a 8.98@74 with the next closest truck being a 9.54. I won the class easily.
Second fav add on is: I just added a XM MyFi for the long trips. Still thinkin about getting a touchscreen indash Kenwood radio.
47? Isn't that when we can just about afford to put add-ons on our trucks? I'm 42 and there are must's to have on a truck. All 4x4's used as 4x4's need a winch. My Ramsey RE10000 will have been on three trucks once I get it installed on this one. Next are the things that don't come on these trucks as standard equipment. I love the looks of the truck with clean lines, but the old design of the cab with rain drip rails was a favorite of mine. So, the neccesity is the Window vent shades. I won't even rant on not having wing windows anymore. Now those I miss, but alas there's no way to install them. As we get older, some sort of step -be it running boards or tube steps with some strength are a must. Fog/Driving lights. My truck didn't come with Fogs, so I installed some driving lights in the same place and wired them to be running lights. They're bright for the daylight so I don't need to burn hours from the more expensive headlights. Tires! Some better Mud Terrain's than the supposed All Terrain's that come with our trucks. Front Leveling Kit. OK, I don't care what rig it is, hot rod or truck, there really isn't any need for more than 1" of rake front to rear. The 2 1/2" front spring lift was the ticket for me. Brighter Backup Lights. M'gosh, when are they gonna get a clue that for nearly $40grand we'd like something that actually illuminates the rear of the truck with a bit more light than that of a single wooden match? Rubber deep dish floor mats! They're finally putting better stereo's in, so that's covered for now. Mud Flaps! If I didn't have the FX4 with limited slip rear differential, I'd have insalled an LS by now. If I didn't have the towing package, I'd have installed a trailer hitch by now. And I have installed a Prodigy trailer brake controller. Gun rack in the back window. Linex bed liner! Unique horn. I've got a 1931 Ford Ahooga horn. Stainless fender well trim. Some like the big plastic Bushwacker style. I like stainless stuff. Oh and a front hood Bug guard. Turbo Boost, and Exhaust Gas Temperature gauge pod. Or other gauges to monitor the engine and transmission. Remote start system! Anti Theft system. Exhaust system soon!
Most all of the things I've added are for functionality. I'm trying not to install things just for asthetics. If something's functional and looks good, then double bonus.
Bill V., in my local town, (he frequents FTE too), has changed out the seats, installed Tuffy console, custom wiring/switches for lighting, Fabtec lift, Bigger tires, Dual spare tires in the bed, Canopy, Tube steps, Larger fuel tanks, nicer stereo system, ..and probably other things he hasn't told me. And he's older than you by quite a bit. So, I don't think there's an owner age limit for add-on's for your truck. Order it with most of the factory options that you want/need, then add what makes your truck a useful truck, and uniquely "Your Truck".

53.... check out my gallery and then tell me WE are too old....tell that person you hope the flees of a thousand camels infest their arm pits...........SOON.....
As a kid growing up all the really trick cars or trucks were being driven by older people they and now I have to admit (we) are usually the only ones who can afford to purchase and insure them (I used to think what a waste that old man driving that cool car now I just sit back and enjoy my ride)
my addons so far bug deflector brake controller good set of backup lights 5th wheel hitch (more soon if it keeps running good)
Sct Xcalibrator With Custom Tunes. K & N Fipk, Hog 4" Exhaust, Westin Wheel To Wheel Chrome Tubes. Kmc 17x9 Chrome Enduro's With 33x12.50r17 Procomp A/t's. Aluminum Diamond Plate Tool Box. Dual Digital Egt/boost Gauge. Favorite Mods?? Anything That Keeps Me Ahead Of The Cummims And Duramax Boys..). Getting Ready To Add Water/meth Injection. 44 Years Old.
SeeBetr mirrors. probably got the name wrong but frankly the Ford mirror at the bottom of the towing mirrors just don't cut it. I don't like blind spots, I adjust the factory convex down to see the rear tires for watching curbs and parking between the parking lot stripes.
AutoEnginuity scantool software; and service manuals (on-line at motorcraftservice.com) I like to know how things are working or suppose to be working!
Fold-A-Cover over the bed.
Paint ball missle launchers for marking those 'other' drivers; just kidding
