Interesting. Seems like sugar would dissolve in diesel fuel and be so dilute as to be of no consequence. I don't know this for sure but always thought the sugar in the tank story to be in the realm of urban legend. I suppose it could cause some damage though. I will probably not try to sweeten up my PSD, it's a sweet ride already.
Well according to snopes.com (http://www.snopes.com/autos/grace/sugar.asp) this is indeed urban legend although I was wrong in my reasoning. Sugar does not dissolve in gasoline (? diesel) but acts as particulate matter like sand and is trapped in the fuel filter. Worst case scenario is you have to remove and clean the fuel tank. Here's a shopping list for the Missing Items on the Super Duty
The part numbers in BOLD are correct as I purchased them for my 04 F-250 Harley Davidson Diesel truck. The other part numbers came from other treads in this and other forums. Please confirm part numbers before ordering.
1) Glove Box Light E7DZ-14413-A Glove Box Light and Switch.
2) There is an opening in the front wheel wells and the engine is exposed (area around the top of the front shocks. YC3Z-16102-BA Front inner fender RT cover includes push pins. YC3Z-16103-BA Front inner fender LF cover includes push pins.
3) Rear Wheel Well Liners F81Z-9928370-AA QTY 2 Fender Liner for in front of the rear wheels
Push pins: 389358-S, You'll need four (2 per liner)
F81Z-9928370-CA QTY 2 Fender Liner for the rear side of the rear wheels

Well I've seen what sugar in gas will do.What will happen is that it gets by the filter.Sand in the cylinder is not a good thing. I've have also done the myth buster thing with a chevy small block and tried to blow it up with no luck. Ran it with no oil no water and reversed the spring on the throttle. It ran for over an hour untill it ran out of gas. Thats the car we entered into the demlition derby. Also it doesn't have to be sugar Corn syurp works also.
I could tell of a better trick but I don't want it comming back on me lol

I think it has more to do with its just something else "left" out of the truck. Not that its really that "important". I probably wouldn't even of noticed it wasn't there, if someone didn't post about it. Kinda like the lights in the door panels. The lens are there, but no bulb/socket
So, does anyone have any part numbers or hints/info on putting the lights back in the door panels?
And speaking of door panels, one of the dislikes about my 04 F350 XLT crew cab is that there are no cup holders or door pockets for the back seat passengers. Yes, I know the center armrest/console has two, but with three kids in the back seat, those two cup holders are useless.
Does anyone know if the 04/05 Lariat, King Ranch, or Harley model F250/350's have door panels with cup holders and pockets? I'd much rather spend a few bucks for original equipment than go with the cheapo window hanging holders and spilled drinks all over the place.
I'm pretty sure my '04 Lariat doesn't have rear seat cup holders. There are the traditional pockets behind the front seats though. But no door pockets.
I just did a search and found Fredvon4 wrote the following in the superduty forum:
No brother, there are no specific PN for the door lights...
The Front door lights are easy fixture to get just pop out the red lens and have a look. You will go Aha! I seen them light sockets before! While you are at Autozone or similar don't forget the bulbs 194 or 163 don't matter.
Rear door you have to fab a holder that is recessed, trust me go look you will get the idea (hot bulb on plastic not good!)
For power you need to lift the drivers side plastic sill and find the black with light blue trace and extend this signal wire into all four doors through the black acordian rubber boot. This is the wire that goes hot when ever the dome, courtesty circuit is on.
putting sugar in your gas tank will not do anything the new fuel filters will stop you r engine from blowing. table salt works best. Most of the time it kills the fuel pump first
Thanks for the info GT-358 & 04FordHarley. Now on to the next question...Does the hood blanket make a big difference in noise reduction inside and or out? Is it worth the $$?
This one has been debated heavily in this and the superduty forums. There are those that say the hood blanket acts as a noise insulator but it's main purpose is to protect the hood paint from engine heat. The other camp says the hood blanket is a home to rodents/mice and eventually decays and you find particles all over your engine and in the air filter. It's your choice. For what it's worth I don't have the hood blanket.
04FordHarleyF250
I added the hood blanket and didn't notice any noise reduction. Least that was really noticable. I added it cause I was tired of seeing rain just steam off the hood. Wanted to protect the paint a little from the heat under the hood.
A question: How long is it supposed to take for rodents/mice to get into the hood insulation or for it to decay?
The longest I have kept any of my trucks has been 9 years...all with hood blankets until my 05, which doesn't have one (yet) and I have never once had rodents/mice or any problems with decay. So...???
Ever watch a show called "Mythbusters"? They had an interesting show regarding sugar in the tank (he poured a lot of sugar in the tank!) Also ran the motor with no oil or pan and sprayed the crank with water while running ( no load just idling) And it ran fine.
Saw that, but they left a major factor out. TIME!
Sugar will dissolve and then recrystalize in areas where it comes in contact with air given enough time. It will really bog things up, esp carb engines.
That's just it. According to the available information sugar does not dissolve in fuel but rather acts like particulate matter much as sand. What does air have to do with the dissolution process? It would have minimal effect as a dissolved gas. Air and time will not make a dissolved solute crystallize. Perhaps you are thinking of evaporation of the liquid solvent leaving the solid solute. Anyway that doesn't apply if indeed sugar is not soluble in fuel. Sugar in the fuel is of course not a good thing. The point is that the effect is not as we had been lead to believe.
