Smile the two most important things on a truck

What ever happend to the two most important things on trucks, the wing window and the foot vent? Is it just me, or wouldnt it be great to have those again? Nothing kept you feet happier then that nice breeze.

Just sold my '96 F350, One of the best selling points was that vent window.
had to be careful about turning it around on the highway though, it caught a
LOT of bees, and threw them into the cab. Very Unhappy Bees.......

One of my fellow firefighters wrecked a work truck many moons ago because of the same thing. A wasp deflected into the cab and wasn't too happy about that. Started stinging him alot.. he smashed the truck into a guardrail and hopped out.

The vent windows are way too easy to break into. Very nice to have when the a/c and power windows went out on my '85 though.

By foot vent, do you mean the "floor" setting on the climate control? My 99 still has it.

My '70 has a vent on each side down by your feet. As far as being broken into, I never drive anything WORTH breaking into. The bumper sticker on my severely beat '86 Ranger sums it up: "This IS my good car!". They leave it alone.

My 81 F150 has both the wing windows and floor vents. And a sliding rear window. So ventilation is not a problem.

Wait a few years and the iron worms will provide foot vents.

twags6,
Don't know about being the most important things, but weren't they great! Thinking about those vent windows the other day.
Maybe they'll be like clothing fashion and they'll come back in style, or as an option.

Foot vents, I mostly remember extreme heat from either road surface or headers when in traffic.

My 55 F100 has vent windows, rear sliding window and a cowl vent which acts as a floor vent.

i don't much care for the wing windows because they make the window space smaller thus making it harder to lean out the window and shoot that monster 14 point buck you just saw.

I never did care for the vent windows. To me, the most important thing in a truck is a v-8 and a tailgate.

What they need to come up with is a push-button volume switch to control the noise from the right seat. I notice it mostly when speed exceeds 75, or when trying to pull 1g from a dead stop... the dealer has been unable to fix it for some time now.
