'93 F250 Dash
How do you remove enough of the dashboard to access the heater controls? My temperature control **** went bad and will now spin 360 degrees. I have the new switch, but want to pull the vacuum lines one by one so I get them reinstalled in the correct locations.
At the same time I'd rather not remove the entire dash if it isn't necessary.
Thanks,
Alex
The black plastic thing that goes the width of the dash (well, from the cluster area to the passenger door) which says "Ranger" "XL" "XLT" or something along those lines, can be popped out carefully with a screwdriver or small plastic scraper. It just clips in.
Once that is out, you will see two metric screws with torx holes in the heads. Use a metric socket or a torx screwdriver, and remove the two screws. Then carefully pull it forward, and a little down, and it will pop out.
Now you will see three, or four, of the same type of screws holding the heater controls onto the dash. Remove them, then pull the heater **** assembly forward, and you have full access to what you need to replace.
BTW, if you can't find the F-series/Bronco heater controls in a junkyard, you can get a similar year Taurus controls - they have the same pinouts, same order of controls, and almost the same faceplate. They have a slightly more bluish than greenish tint, as compared to the stock F-series. But reasonably intact Tauruses (Taurii?) are more common than F-trucks in the junkyard. At least around here in NJ.
