No power

I just purchased a 96 ranger 4 cyl manual 2wd. I realize it is only a four cyl and I do not have to many problems driving it back and forth to work but when I went to pull it up on my ramps to change the oil I almost did not get it up there, I had to play the clutch and floor the thing to get it up the ramp. A little scary flooring it up the ramp especially when you get up on top you have to be quick!!
Does this sound normal for this this 4 cyl?

hehe.... welcome to the life of a 2.3L owner.

Best thing I found is to crawl under the truck w/o ramps to change the oil (granted I'm a smaller guy).

Stan

BTW: To answer your question, yes... that sounds about right.

No I can't believe that! Somthing is wrong - my 94 2.3L 245000 kms still does the one wheel peel if ness. What kind of gas mileage are you getting on a tank. I get over 500kms per tank.
Maybe a compression check is in order.
p.s I hate those ramps - danger accident waiting to happen.

Did you smell any odor like burnt tranmission fluid when you did this. I'm only asking because when I used to pull my boat up the launch ramp I would have to do this. Mine turned out to be a burned-out clutch plate.

Try a jack and jackstands instead of ramps.
