Nope, 7.0mpg is at 55 mph, takin it easy. I'm 50yrs old so don't go so fast anymore. I have 3000 miles on it so far. Tadd (ATS Diesel) installed scmt tuner @ 1000 miles. On the high torque setting I get 8.8 mpg, haven't tried the other two settings yet.
So, Why did you install the tuner if you don't go fast anymore? Is that 7mpg towing anything or just the truck empty? Personally, I'd remove the tuner, then drive for a while, verify the poor mileage. If the extremely bad fuel consumption continues then I'd have to say there's something wrong with your rig. And get that thing to a Ford service department. Even a poorly running 6.0 should get better than 12mpg. Most people average 15 in the city, and another 25% on the freeway. Some of us have seen 20mpg.
I have about 5k on my 2005 PSD 4x4 Lariat ... I have consistently been getting 19-20 on the freeway ... at 65-70 .. and no less than 16.5 combined ... and that's calculated .. it also includes blowing away a few dodge's and chebbies .. I can't resist lol
We actually use our truck for what it was designed for.......work. We farm and have a custom hay business. Its not uncommon to go across the scales weighing 44,000 +, nothing that heavy yet with this truck. We didn't bother to check milage out to Denver but returned with a CJ 7 (see pic in gallery) on the back and the scmt set on the high torque setting, 8.87 mpg. Sat the tuner back to stock and am getting 7 mpg. As stated, truck only has 3000 miles on it so its a bit early to draw many conclusions. We are going to run several tank fulls threw on each setting to get a better idea. With 4.88's don't think we're gonna get very good milage but the beast will flat out PULL !
Love this truck !!!
