I have an '01 F-150 with a 4.6. It has just about 78,000 miles on it now. I purchased the truck last summer. Usually when I'm driving on the highway I have the radio up loud enough to were I do not hear the engine to much. But recently I drove with the radio off on the highway. When I was driving at around 70mph or so and at around 2000rpm i would hear a kinda chirping sound every now and then. It seemed to come when I would either accelerate a little harder or when I would take cruise and then accelerate.
Does anyone know what this is, and if it is any sort of problem?
My dad has the same issue wuth his '99 f-150. It only does it under accelleration. The noise is about to drive him crazy................ Maybe someone will have a answer for this issue.
the compressor for the a/c turns on and off while the a/c in the cab is blowing. if you actually have the a/c off then this is probably not the chirping sound that you are hearing.
